Kinesiology Tape (also known as K-Tape) is widely used by professional athletes and gym-goers to relieve pain, reduce swelling and provide sensory support to joints and muscles. Capsicolle K-Tape combines these existing properties with the added power of capsaicin and menthol extracts to neutralise pain and increase mobility like nothing else.

Active Ingredients

Capsaicin

Capsaicin is among the traditional components of Native American healing as well as being widely used in modern medicine, it is commonly used for nerve pain and other conditions involving joints and muscles. It works with your body to create a deep healing heat whilst also interacting with your near-skin neurotransmitters to physically block pain, inflammation and muscle spasms. Capsaicin is also known to support blood circulation, eliminate bacteria and accelerate metabolism. Content in tape: 2.89%.

‍Menthol

Part of peppermint essential oil, menthol is widely used for it's cooling and anaesthetic (or pain killing) effect. When taken on the skin, menthol is absorbed into the neurotransmitters, interrupting pain signals in the brain by replacing them with heat and cold sensations. Content in tape: 7.8%.

‍Camphor

Obtained from the bark and wood of the camphor tree, topical uses of camphor include treating pain, warts, cold sores, haemorrhoids, osteoarthritis, anti-itch, increasing local blood flow, and as a counterirritant. Camphor is an FDA-approved topical analgesic and anaesthetic used to relieve pain. Content in tape: 9.6%.

Natural Pain Relief

When you apply Capsicolle kinesiology tape, the plant extracts are absorbed through the skin, stimulating local neurotransmitter channels called TRP receptors.

Capsaicin initiates a warmth sensation by stimulating heat receptors that only react at temperatures above 37°C, whilst also depleting the substances neurons use to transmit pain signals to the brain. This causes a feeling of heat, a reduction of pain, and a blockade of neurogenic inflammation.

Receptor stimulation from Menthol also goes through the sensory pathways into the spinal cord and on to the brain, further replacing feelings of pain with hot and cold sensations.

Capsicolle K-Tape

K-Tape was originally developed to aid muscle movement. It's a thin, flexible tape that is meant to relieve pain, reduce swelling and inflammation, and provide support to joints and muscles. K-tape is believed to have benefits that are both neurological and biomechanical.

Neuromodulation Effect

K-tape is believed to have a neuromodulation effect that influences the nervous system - when applied, the tape provides sensory feedback and a reminder of the proper movement for the taped joint/muscle. This can increase mobility and confidence during activity. Furthermore, this constant reminder can help to prevent slouching or carrying yourself in such a way that might aggravate an injury or weakness.

‍Inflammation

Whilst the mechanisms are not fully understood, studies have shown that K-Tape can significantly reduce swelling when in recovery. A theory is that as you move back and forth with k-tape attached, it helps to manipulate the areas under the skin, allowing for better exchange and movement of fluids.

‍Pain

Similar to the neuromodulation effect, as you move back and forth with k-tape attached to your skin you are moving and pulling on receptors in the skin. It is believed that this causes them to fire off signals to your spinal cord and dampen/dilute the pain signals coming from the same area. This doesn't get rid of pain, but it typically inhibits/decreases a noticeable portion of it.

Be sure you are confident in applying k-tape correctly before use.

Please follow these tips to ensure the tape properly adheres to your skin:

• After you cut a length of tape, round the corners off.
• Make sure you throughly clean the area first, an alcohol pad is ideal for this.
• Apply at least 2 hours before a workout to give the adhesive time to properly bond.
• Once applied, rub the tape with your hand afterwards to help activate the adhesive.

Store at room temperature, protect from frost and sunlight.

• Do not use for skin diseases, skin injuries or skin damage
• Do not use on skin which cannot sense heat or cold sensation
• Do not use if you are allergic to Capsaicin or other components of the product
• In rare cases, it is possible to have an allergic reaction, causing skin irritation, itching or a rash. If this happens stop using the pad immediately and if required, seek medical attention
• Do not use 1 hour before or after taking a bath
• Must not come into contact with mucus membranes, especially the eyes.
• Wash your hands after manipulation
• Do not apply too much pressure to the tape
• Do not apply to any person incapable of removing it themselves
• If the tape feels too hot, take it off.
• Do not use when you cannot easily remove it
• Our adhesive is is hypoallergenic, similar to that of a normal skin plaster - if you are allergic to adhesives seek advice before trying
• Pregnant and lactating women should consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• Persons who have medical conditions, are on medication or may be pregnant may be more susceptible to issues or reactions and should seek medical advice prior to use
• Adults and children 12+ only, keep out of reach of children and pets. Packaging not child proof
